Every now and then we go on a magical day trip and yesterday we put the good weather to good use to explore Chanctonbury Ring, a veritable treasure trove of ancient history and occult relevance.
There are many great websites out there that explain the history of the place, so I won’t rehash what you can easily google for yourself. For us it was a bit of a pilgrimage, the place has very personal relevance and it definitely exudes power. We found plenty of evidence of recent ritual activity and it was equally exciting to find archaeological remains of the Roman temples which at one time stood in the enclosure: tiles, oyster shells, even bones.
The sense of continued sanctity was strong and we chose to conduct a very simple and low key ceremony to honour the ancestors and divine in nature. A day to treasure and remember.
